Verified Poéma Professional Standards
Version: EA-1.2 (early access). Last updated: October 6, 2026.
These Standards describe how someone becomes a Verified Poéma Professional, what verification does and does not mean, and what we ask of Verified Poéma Professionals. “Verified Poéma Professional” is the universal designation for everyone who completes verification on Poéma. These Standards are part of your agreement with Poéma, together with the Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Community Standards.
Initial Eligibility Categories
- Licensed or regulated healthcare professionals
- Certified health and wellness coaches
- Credentialed health educators
- Health researchers and academic professionals
Two Qualification Pathways
Credential-Based Pathway
Qualification through a current professional license, a recognized certification, a relevant degree or a regulated professional registration.
Professional-Contribution Pathway
Qualification through documented professional work that can be independently confirmed, including employment and leadership roles, teaching and training, publications, curriculum development, health programs and initiatives, educational resources, and other verifiable professional contributions.
What Every Applicant Provides
- Legal identity and identity-verification information
- A CV or résumé
- Supporting evidence for the qualifications, experience, roles, publications or professional record being claimed
- Permission for Poéma to independently verify material claims
- Disclosure of relevant restrictions, suspensions and disciplinary actions
- Optional: evidence that you own or co-own a practice or business, if you want to name it on Poéma
Application materials are kept private and seen only by Poéma administrators. They may name organizations you have worked for; that is expected for verification and is never displayed.
Verification Fee and Renewal
- Verified Poéma Professional status carries a $99 annual verification fee, charged only after your application is approved.
- Active verification includes full Poéma Membership.
- The fee renews automatically each year until you cancel. We send a reminder before each renewal.
- If you cancel, you will not be charged again, and your verified status continues until the end of the year you paid for.
- All payments are non-refundable, including partial years and including when verified status is restricted, suspended or removed under these Standards.
Display Name and Credential Badges
You take part under a display name, which may be your real name, for example for professional branding. Like every display name on Poéma, it may not include credentials, professional titles or reserved words. Your verified credentials are shown as badges after Poéma confirms them. Specific professional titles are used only where your verified qualifications support them.
Ongoing Obligations
- Represent qualifications and scope accurately at all times
- Report changes to credentials promptly, including expiration, restriction, suspension or revocation
- Stay within the scope of the qualifications and experience that were verified
Education Only
Poéma is an education platform. On Poéma, you may share general health education only. You may not provide medical, nursing, mental health or any other professional care. That includes:
- assessing or diagnosing a specific person;
- recommending, changing or stopping a specific person’s treatment or medications;
- creating individual care plans;
- anything that would create a provider–patient or client relationship.
If a conversation moves toward individual care, you must redirect it off Poéma, either to your own practice (your website, your virtual care platform or your physical location) or to the person’s own care provider.
You are solely responsible for knowing where education ends and care begins, for keeping to that boundary, and for any care you provide outside Poéma, including licensure, scope of practice, records, consent and insurance. Poéma does not monitor this boundary and is not responsible or liable if it is crossed.
Organization-Neutral Presence
Your Poéma presence represents you as an individual professional.
- Organizations you don’t own. Do not name any healthcare organization, school, association or other entity where you work or have worked as an employee, contractor, leader or volunteer. This applies everywhere on Poéma: your bio, display name, posts, replies, messages, learning content and offerings. Instead, describe your experience in general terms: your area of practice, the type of work and your role, the type and size of setting (for example a large hospital system, a small rural clinic, community or home health, or an academic setting), and your years of experience.
- Organizations you own. If you are a registered owner or co-owner of a practice or business, you may name it once Poéma has verified your ownership. Promotion of your practice belongs in your premium offerings.
- Links go one way only. An organization may tell people where to find you on Poéma. Your Poéma presence may not point back to an organization you don’t own.
Learning Content and Premium Offerings
- You publish independently. Learning content is not reviewed by Poéma before it is published.
- Premium add-ons. You may offer premium add-ons, such as courses, programs or educational coaching, at a price you set. Members see the price up front. Premium offerings are limited to education. They are also the place to promote a practice you own.
- Your responsibility. You are responsible for the accuracy, sources, permissions and accessibility of what you publish and offer.
- Review after publication. Poéma doesn’t review everything. It may review your content after it is published: periodically, at random, and whenever a concern is raised.
What Verification Means
Verification confirms identity and the specific qualifications, experience, roles, publications or professional records that Poéma examined and that appear on your profile. Verification is not an endorsement of every contribution, offering or service you provide.
Poéma does not routinely review, approve, validate or endorse individual posts, replies, opinions or offerings. Verified Poéma Professionals are independent contributors, not employees or agents of Poéma.
Professional Independence
Within your verified scope, you are free to share established knowledge, professional interpretation, emerging ideas, reasoned minority viewpoints, practical observations and informed professional opinions. This independence is deliberate: a community limited to uncontested consensus would serve Members poorly on exactly the questions where they need help most.
Professional Responsibilities
Independence comes with responsibility. Verified Poéma Professionals are expected to:
- Make reasonable efforts to explain whether what they are sharing reflects established knowledge, professional interpretation, emerging information, practical observation or personal experience
- Represent sources honestly and be candid about uncertainty and limits
- Disclose relevant commercial, financial and professional conflicts, in general terms where an organization cannot be named
- Remain within verified scope
- Keep to education only, as described above
- Engage respectfully, consistent with the Poéma Community Standards
No HIPAA-Regulated Patient Care
Poéma is not a clinical or HIPAA-regulated environment. Verified Poéma Professionals must not use the Service for patient care, must not invite patients or clients here for clinical communication, and must not request, post, transmit or store identifiable patient information, medical records, test results, clinical images, prescriptions, treatment plans or referrals.
Review
Poéma checks Professional profiles during verification. Poéma may also conduct random, targeted and report-driven reviews of verified participation and content. Poéma has no duty to monitor interactions or content, and the absence of a review does not imply approval. Reviews are a normal part of maintaining a trustworthy community, not an accusation.
We Unpublish, We Don’t Edit
Poéma never edits your content. Content that doesn’t meet these Standards will be unpublished, and you will be told which standards it didn’t meet. You may fix the content and repost it. When you repost, you will be asked to say briefly what you changed for each item. Reposted content goes live right away; Poéma is notified and may unpublish it again.
Possible Outcomes
Where a concern is identified, Poéma may request a clarification or correction, unpublish content, restrict or suspend verified status, or remove verified status, choosing a response proportionate to the situation. Repeated issues are handled under Poéma’s concerns process.
Reconsideration
If you believe a decision was wrong, email founder@poemahealth.com and ask us to look again. We will review it and reply. This is a lightweight, good-faith process.
